Advanced Charging Technologies (ACT) Ships First Customer Order of Quantum GSE Chargers

La Mirada, California, May 14, 2019 —

Advanced Charging Technologies (ACT) is excited to announce that they have shipped their first large scale customer order of Quantum GSE chargers, a new line of UL rated-Type 3R outdoor ground support equipment (GSE) chargers.  The chargers will be deployed into airports throughout North America.

This milestone achievement will be the first of many for the Quantum GSE product line.  The Quantum GSE- Q12 charger extends the charging capabilities from 150A to 300A at 80V.  The Q12 meets the charging needs of a variety of GSE equipment powered by lead acid and Li-Ion batteries, thereby allowing ACT to adapt to the ever-growing, ever-changing needs of their customers. The Quantum GSE charger also supports openCAN communication protocol enabling support for Li-Ion battery charging applications, which will be specified at these airports.

“We are thrilled to be working with a customer that values technology and data as much as we do and will work together to reduce power consumption, save energy, and lower environmental costs,” comments ACT General Manager, Michael Nelson.

In addition to bringing new technology in this Smart charger to the ground support equipment market and the highest charge efficiency in the industry, ACT is also bringing their unparalleled national service and support network.  The Deka Agent Network Organization (DANO) is a collaboration of independently owned battery specialists across the country that proudly represent East Penn Manufacturing in the servicing of batteries by offering services on a unified basis to those customers that require national service coverage.

“The GSE market has been underserved and overlooked as it relates to battery charging solutions for over 20 years.  We don’t think customers should settle for old technology.  We designed the Quantum GSE for this very reason.  The world class, patented Quantum technology adapted into an outdoor design will modernize the GSE market” stated Nelson.

The Quantum GSE chargers feature conventional, opportunity, and fast charge capabilities all integrated into a single charger design, targeted towards FBO, regional, and non-hub maintenance and logistics companies.  Like the Quantum series chargers, with a worldwide installed base of over 16,000 units, the Quantum GSE chargers feature modular technology, built-in redundancy, plug-n-play operation, and scalability through field expansion thus offering the highest reliability and the simplest serviceability in industrial charger technology. The Quantum chargers offer high energy efficiencies with peak efficiencies greater than 94 percent and full-cycle efficiencies greater than 93 percent.

One of the unique aspects of the Quantum charger is the integrated wireless communication that allows for seamless cloud integration, where real-time data is automatically uploaded to ACT’s cloud-based data management platform, ACTintelligent.  End users can centrally manage their charger assets, analyze operational data, optimize battery and fleet performance, generate performance reports, and troubleshoot charger issues.  In addition, wireless cloud integration allows for remote firmware and software updates enabling new functionalities to be added to the Quantum chargers with minimal effort.

The Quantum GSE charger also communicates with the ACT BATTview battery monitor to capture battery utilization & performance data for even more cloud-based, real-time optimization of ground support equipment.

The Quantum chargers are UL/cUL certified, CEC compliant, and are backed with a 5-year warranty by ACT.
