La Mirada, California, September 20, 2018 —
Advanced Charging Technologies (ACT) is pleased to announce that it has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its modular smart grid Quantum battery charger technology that enables battery charging and grid-tie battery discharging into the electrical power grid. The USPTO awarded ACT US Patent No. 10,056,763 B2 titled, “Autonomous Battery Charging System and Related Methods,” on August 21, 2018.
“Patent awards such as this are evidence that ACT has been forward thinking about developing a battery charging technology platform that is smart grid ready,” said Dr. Nasser Kutkut, ACT’s Chief Technology Officer and patent inventor. “The new patent builds on ACT’s Quantum charger technology by integrating active filtering modules and grid-tie inverter modules that allow for line interactive charging and discharging,” added Dr. Kutkut. “These functions are critical for implementing active demand response and peak shaving functions thus allowing end users to participate in energy saving demand response programs. Furthermore, integrating active filtering modules will allow Quantum chargers to tackle applications with more stringent harmonic distortion requirements such as airports,” concluded Dr. Kutkut.
The new patent grant will strengthen ACT’s IP portfolio as it continues to develop its battery charging and monitoring technology. ACT has several pending patent applications covering various aspects of its industry leading cloud battery and charger asset management.
